Fun facts about Maria and Louise?
“Maria: When the other kids were playing with Barbie dolls, Maria was busy watching horror movies and was intrigued by especially the bloody scenes and how the makeup was made. 

Louise grew up on a farm and has had a business of farming chickens and turkeys from the age of seven with her brother, learning how to do business from an early age.“

How did the two of you meet and wanting to start a business?🏢
“We met in Los Angeles back in 2017. Maria was studying a Masters in Special Effects and Beauty Makeup at one of the world’s most well-renowned makeup schools, Cinema Makeup School. She has always known that she wanted to be a makeup artist and was especially drawn to horror movies and makeup, why Los Angeles for many reasons was the only place to go to learn how to do cinema makeup. Louise was straight out of Copenhagen Business School hired as COO of a Danish startup on Hollywood Boulevard with a mission to connect the Nordic creative industries to the American creative industries through a co-working space, events in close collaboration with the Nordic chambers of commerce and innovation centers.”

“We met at a party one night and got talking – we quickly discovered that we had next to nothing in common. But we had the same kind of humor and a love for chilled rosé, sunsets and rooftops. We decided to meet up again despite our obvious differences and got talking. Maria explained some of the challenges she experienced from her many years as a makeup artist, and how the whole industry is infected with rivalry, competition and a lack of colleagues and community. Louise found this both surprising and sad, and listened curiously while Maria shared all her experiences. Louise tried to add a different perspective as to how it would actually be able to work as a business, while re-thinking an industry in a market with consumers that was not yet as used to getting everything “on demand”, as users in e.g. Los Angeles.”

“Beauty Boosters is a concept that offers a variety of professional beauty treatments on demand – so you can get everything from nail treatments to professional haircuts, at the comfort of your home, office or hotel room.”

What’s the best advice / life hack you want to give to our members?
“The best advice we can give is, whatever state of life you are in, to always believe in yourself and care less about what others think. In doing this, especially when starting a company, it’s important to have partner(s) who compliment you personally and professionally. We are as different as it gets, and this has been the perfect match and our greatest asset in starting a business, because we can handle different aspects of the company and respect each other’s decisions within our competencies. We believe that it is harder for female founders to take the step of entrepreneurship, due to an extreme culture of perfection, especially on social media. It can feel like jumping off a cliff – and trust me, that is way easier if you do it with someone who believes in you, has the same mindset and who you share a vision with.

So please, surround yourself with good energy and people who believe in you – but most importantly – learn how to believe in yourself, trust your instinct and go for it – and be #sorrynotsorry for doing so.”
